the constraints on the Balance Sheet and the onset of torrential seasonal rainfall before the mining team could get through the Saprolitic clay in most of the pits, meant that the operation substantially lost momentum from late April and only staged a recovery from these factors as the weather started to dry up in September. This is not an experience we intend to repeat and the lessons have been well learnt. Operating under these conditions requires a robust working capital position as well as a “belt and braces” approach to mining and processing activities. Working in “monsoon” conditions in the Jungle will never be easy, but the fact that most of the Smarts and Hicks’ pits will be in hard rock before the start of next year’s wet season, gives a degree of optimism that the worst is now behind us from an operating perspective.

I really thought that they would be into Smarts 3 this quarter and was shocked to realise it will only make up a small % of the total feed.
@kojac78 what is the main reason for not getting into Smarts 3? Is purely OHS ? The sand layers surrounding the pit?
