Not all patients on mega Vit C (Ascorbic Acid - AA) will develop oxalate nephropathy. Generally, it is only those with renal failure or who have a defect in AA or oxalate metabolism that will be at risk of nephropathy.

Over the years, the opinion that Vit-C can be used to treat cancer, bacterial and viral infection has shown promises and controversies. There have been successes and failures published among several studies. There is also considerable risk for the oxalate crystal-forming patients identified above. In the last year or so, Vit - C was touted to shown benefit in inhibiting the production of cytokines storm due to Corvid19.

I've looked at AA before and it isn't the answer for acute sepsis. It seems to be the alternative for when all else fails. It may have a combination benefit but I doubt it.
