The union movement that is behind Labor provides the funding for the party's campaigning as well as selecting and promoting its own members to safe seats in the Labor party as quid quo pro for financial support. Union membership and the no ticket no start policy are protected by law so that there is a guaranteed flow of member's fees and dues to maintain funding for the labor party. There is no comparable guaranteed funding structure for the Liberal or any other party. Union funding of the Labor party is nothing more than a legal bribe. Should we be surprised that the government stimulus package has mainly benfitted CFMEU workers who are one of the Labor party's main supporters?
