The problem is people that earn more will have more super because they earn more (and not because they dodge tax). One person having more than another is something that the left has a problem with. The way to deal with this "problem" is known as redistribution of wealth or taxation. So if everyone had some super the system still wouldn't be "left wing fair".
Please note saving for retirement isn't just business versus taxpayer. You have forgotten about the self employed. We put OUR OWN MONEY into super. Many of us manage OUR OWN MONEY AND TAKE OUR OWN RISK. This is why many of us resent the attack on the preservation age and resent any suggestion of redistribution OF OUR MONEY when we are dead when we have been paying MORE than our fair share of tax when we were alive.
