Paul Keating is concise, articulate and well researched.
PJ Keating was fond of travel allowance as well.
In 1986, the then Treasurer, Paul Keating, dismissed questions about his travel allowance with the declaration: "I won't be treated like a dog turd on the pavement!." Keating insisted he should not repay over $30,000 he claimed on the basis that his home was in Sydney, although he was living with his family in Canberra. The rules were subsequently clarified in support of Keating's position. However, when John Howard raised legitimate questions at the time, he was chastised for throwing mud.
