Jail should be for people who are a danger to society - yet our law system punishes white collar criminals and non violent offenders far more severly than violent scum bags.
In Qld, a home invader who tied up and bashed the occupants got 3 years suspended after 12 months yet an elderly pensioner got jail time for defrauding Social Security. She was a first time offender and yet thay jail her for a non violent crime. What a joke this country has become when it comes to justice. Fraudsters here still go to jail even after making full restitution and pleading guilty.
