We're all lazily throwing around phrases like 'crank up the printing press' and 'open the monetary spigot' but do any of us know HOW they could conceivably do this? In practical terms, how are these bailouts going to manifest themselves, and more importantly for us avid gold bugs - what news will tell us that the monetary flood has finally begun? Is it conceivable the USGovt will have the cheek to ask the world to pay for it all via the sale of more US Treasuries? And will the Chinese/Japanese/Europeans say yes? Or will they say 'yes, but you are going to pay us punitive interest rates in return'? Or will they say NO? If thats the case, then 'printing press' time, right?
