Having a community safe from Covid is a luxury that we can afford. Just like other luxuries like having clean water, quality food, clean air, education, safe communities etc.
There is a balance between squirreling away the dollars and having a caring, decent community.
You work for the government ?
Then you would be very familiar with wheelbarrows of money wasted on a daily basis. If you want to bang on about money wasted for no outcome then I suspect you start in the very department you are in and work your way up from there.
The rolling waste of governments year in, year out would absolutely dwarf the expenditure on covid in Australia.
And don't get me started on the continual failure of quarantine and the vaccine rollout that is costing us billions in commerce right now. Now that's something that the government should fix.
