The wage cuts are only part of the savings that are required but it would have been a show of solidarity and everyone pulling together to get the company out of the crap. (And yes, that should also start with Board and executives). Not a time for division. Wonder how the steel workers that accepted the cuts feel about their mining colleagues? Would hate for this to start dividing the workforce.
