My goodness, it was not the war that stopped mining. This is the second time I've pointed out that you are basically making stuff up. Like the time you claimed it was called Garden Gully because of a vegetable garden. Absolute nonsense.
1 - veins in some of the mines were lost due to their irregular twisted paths
2 - miners became unable to get "payable" gold for their era, some companies went broke and leases were forfeit
3 - the water table started at 30ft
4 - shafts didn't exceed the depth of about 100ft
Go and read Chapter 6 especially, from page 92, of the 1916 Geological Survey Bulletin #68 by Clark, E. There you will find actual facts about the early days of mining here. I have posted a proper link to the original scanned copy which includes the diagrams in the threads here somewhere.
If there is a commercially viable deposit here at Garden Gully, that's great, but making stuff up and over ramping won't magically make it happen.
