I first come across this trend about 12 months ago while on holiday in Perth. I ordered a coffee and paid by card and the person who served me didn't show me the screen of the Eftpos machine. I logged into phone banking just to check and the coffee cost me $7-17, an odd amount I thought. When I asked the question I was told there was a surcharge for paying by card.
