Pre heating metal prior to welding is a basic practice in any environment,It assists and usually improves the outcome.There are different methods available. Pre heating to 70msw is a huge achievement at those water temps
This would have been a test in a controlled environment,in a chamber as the annc suggests,also known as a 'wet pot'
Im happy that Loyds approved the outcome of the 'test',but its still a long way from the real thing particularly under North Sea conditions.Not being negative just realistic should anyone think that orders will (excuse the pun) come flooding in the door.
