Yep, I am a huge fan of Afterpay - but agree it seems a bad idea for staples.
In theory (and I know not everyone shops like this) it doesn't make sense to me that someone pays off their $200 weekly shopping bill over 6 weeks ($50 fortnight and 1st payment upfront). By week 6/7 they are paying the same $200 a week as they were before, but now they have a larger trailing debt (so basically the net benefit to a consumer is $600 of cash over the first 6 weeks that they can use elsewhere... hardly sheepstations).
For APT my guess it would be higher risk, as if someone is struggling to pay they are much more likely to go pay cash for their groceries and default on an APT payment.
I think they should stick to discretionary items.
