The system is broken. Why would anybody want to be a politician? They a paid relative peanuts and have their past raked over for any distant misdemeanor that can be blown up into an issue. So we get what we deserve blamange party hacks with an inability or ambition to fix the system.
The short election cycle means thoughts turn to re election even before election day. This is not a recipe for good government.
