my story is not uncommon. just go through the suburbs ,rural areas, aboard navy vessels ,police ,nurses,building sites,offices and all over Australia people who live week to week just to survive. they will never get the chance to see $100 000 let alone one million dollars.
this is just throwing it in our faces. it is disrespectful towards my deceased grandmother who`s two brothers never came back from the WW2 and all the other soldiers who have fought and died overseas.
earlier in the week I went to her grave to put some flowers. i said to her that i was so sorry that the country that she had adored and had so much hope for had slipped to these depths that she could have never imagined.
i thought about all the migrants we grew up with. how we all shared a common bond and how our parents toiled together so proudly. never would anyone ask for a handout. we all had nothing but everyone helped each other and were extremely happy.
who gave the Human Rights Commission the power to humiliate us like this ?
