    Paypal only really took off when it got attached to Ebay and then bought by Ebay. Clearly being attached to a large company drives customer numbers. Afterpay has some big merchants including Ebay, finish line, Ulta, GOAT etc. This is why quite a few BNPL players will do well even with paypal on the scene.
