This week the City of Swan voted to support the commencement of proceedures to review the Metropolitan Regional Scheme to change the Gidgegannup Townsite area to "Urban".
Their recomendations are in no way supportive of Port Bouvards project, but only achknoledgement that a developer wishes to develop this land.
In fact the City of Swan's recomendations to the WAPC are critical of Port Bouvard's actions so far.
The City has recomended that the Townsite be reduced in area to eliminate land Port Bouvard had earmarked for industrial infrastructure, but was owned by the community and the City of Swan. I am sure that Port Bouvard will cry reduced employment opportunity over this, rather than appologising to the kids in the region who use this land for organised equestrian persuits.
The Councilors also request the WAPC to NOT allow a concurrent ammendment to the "Local Planning Scheme 17", which means that there is no easy and fast tracking for Port Bouvard, plus the local community and City are in a better situation assess the process.
The City's report in reference to Port Bouvard's consultation process states that it "does not endorse any of the consultation process". Something the local community has objected to all along.
Another damning comment by the City of Swan is " a concern has been expressed by City officers that this development may not be feasible."
This is definately not a win for Port Bouvard, but more a serious reality check.
