Former Sydney lord mayor Lucy Turnbull, who recently snapped up an apartment in New York, made herself even more welcome in the Big Apple on Monday night by helping host the Nasdaq opening bell ceremony. Turnbull, who chairs the ASX-listed ovarian cancer vaccine developer Prima Biomed, let the company's chief executive Martin Rogers have his 20 seconds of fame by ringing the opening buzzer and providing a few comments.
But along with the rest of the company's board, including her deputy Albert Wong, Turnbull caught some red ticker tape at the end of the ceremony, where Prima fulfilled its ambitions of being welcomed onto the electronic boards of the Nasdaq.
''Today is a great day in history for Prima Biomed,'' Rogers declared. It was just a shame that no one could trade on the big day. Due to a few technical issues there was a hold-up in the trading of Prima's American Depositary Receipts on the bourse. They were expected to start trading last night.
