The most common bacteria causing otitis are Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae ja Moraxella catarrhalis , 20% share each of them. The 2 latter ones produce often beta-lactamase causing multi-resistance to antibiotics and perhaps close to 40% of streptococcus infections are right away resistant to many antibiotics. Moraxella produces in some 90% of cases beta-lactamase.

So in this clinical study, the efficacy of PBT2 would be tested against many important bacteria, now in humans, for the first time.

Think about what Dr. Neville told: over 700 million cases of otitis media, 30 million suffering from chronic infection annually. Huge need for PBT2 !!!
