I wished I had THE answer! (Rather than THE solution - and all the baggage of the term 'the solution' implies.)

The biggest loser to the WW wars was the destruction of the Ottomans as a percentage of their population 20% or there abouts; most of whom were starved to death by a ruthless Russia, and having suffered the prior blow of Aussies & Poms on their beaches, and the earlier Russo-Turkish War were simply powerless. (So Turkey in turn sought ought to massacre the non-muslim Armenians. Evidence of the senseless kinetic effect. )

Certainly the Turks have been 'pacified' for 150 odd years, and have become more Western in their ways than any other Islamic nation.

But now, I don't know, anymore.

I don't believe we are confronted by that type of war. Although, I think I am correct, that starving peoples and enemies is always more 'telling', both Germany & Japan were as much starved into complacency as was the destruction of the combatants.
