since alcohol is the only legal intoxicant, and the majority of Australians indulge in it (me included), would 'licensing' (aka legalisation) of all intoxicants, make it more probable that you would at least try it?

I think I would - that is what scares me about intoxicants. Because I'm to tired/ lazy to meditate etc to relieve stress. Intoxicants give instant relief, but create biological tolerance. Ultimately it will destroy an individual (either suddenly or gradually, it matters not).

While there are anti-drug laws in place , only a minority may sacrifice their potential and perhaps their lives to the drug culture.

if you believe that a healthy society is the best society to live in, then perhaps you have to be totally anti-intoxicants?
