When the price action is contrary to the announcement then you're being played.

This is why it's critical to buy stocks in companies where you understand the product and business model well enough to know whether an announcement is good or bad. Otherwise you have to wait for brokers and analysts to tell you what to think, and then it's too late; the market will have jumped all over your bones. You might also be spooked by a big move like today because you don't know enough to be confident that you understand the announcement.
