article seems to overstate the immediate geographic connection between where the core area containing the 500 chimps seemingly reside and the buffer zones being that, a buffer to put distance between the area of importance and the "normal" world.
I wonder if the distance which they came up with for the zone are arbitrary numbers or actually have some biological relevance to the species.
regardless, is still of significant concern. however I think geographically speaking PDI are in a strong (in relevance to the national park) position compounding with having a strong economic bargaining chip.
