I actually read this in a similar fashion to you, as a glass half full kind of way, however when someone does this in the last 10sec of trade they are trying to influence the outcome and direction of the share price by not giving it time throughout the day to recover. Also ask yourself what this would look like if an announcement is made after market today or before market opens tomorrow morning particularly if the announcement is of a negative nature.
