By 'understand it', I mean understanding the way the company operates, not understanding the movement of the share price. To demand of myself that I understand the accounting rules, valuation techniques and ultimately, the financial statements of a company before buying, is not a high standard to meet.
How else could I deploy capital with even a modicum of confidence?
