The average wage in Malawi is $800 PA (1)
Therefore 10.7/12 X $800 = $713
I don't know how many people work at the Kayelekera Mine, But, for each 1000 employees a redundancy package would equal $713,000.
I reckon wages is not the major factor in running a unprofitable mine.
