My impression was that they did not provide enough insight into what the world might be like with oil supply in decline.
I'm not sure they would have been believed had they done so. No-one wants to know about a reduction of living standards, let alone a reduction of the number of people living. One paper I read spoke of a 90% die off.
We aren't ready for that yet.
