Given the reported issues regarding supply of critical minerals and shortages in battery product reported by European Car makers the western world does have a strategic dilemma.
Do they simply allow the Chinese to control another source of huge supply for the next 30 Years+ from Ngualla in Tz.
Since the bid from Shenghe I'd observe the following:
- The Shenghe share price has moved up over 8%
-The NdPr price has also rallied strongly to today being priced at 61,300 including VAT.
- The prices of MP materials and Lynas have appreciated materially.
I'm surprised the Board recommended so quickly to accept the bid, given there has been no independent valuation performed with sensitivity analysis around the NdPr price and demand/ supply analysis of critical minerals to the western world in years to come.
Critical minerals structural dynamics keep changing and shareholders should observe such change prior to voting on the bid. Given the strategic importance of Ngualla, would the shareprice of Peak actually go down if the bid vote fails given Shenghe may sell out of Peak which then opens the door to the western world. At the very least shareholders should provide feedback that 35.9 cents is a nonsense with NdPr appreciating to normality. 50 cents at a minimum , with today's dynamics is a realistic figure for any bid.
Hopefully we get to see an independent valuation soon.
