yes he has been outstanding , and he has been there a while and not getting any younger! - he did get a flogging for the aborted takeover attempt a few years ago ( that was one of the cap raisings!)but has stuck to the knitting since!
"the pro" got that one wrong but we all make mistakes from time to time! I dont short at all ( always wary of a takeover blowing you out of the water!) but the way the market has been since late 09 i think it could have been a strategy to work for many
- i know being long only has had a lot of instances of being "blown out of the water" but on unexpected downside news! diversification has been the key for me, but then again if only we held the right stocks...!! ( csl bkl cdd cpb bru mfg tls qub wesn cba anz pfl are only ones of mine that have been good and stayed good over past couple years )
- interesting one for you - i toyed with selling csl in early 09 ( app $37) to buy banks - i kicked myself for quite a while that i didnt - csl pulled back yet banks ran hard from their bottoms - the cap raising issues that occurred in 09 made them even cheaper!
