when I get some time I was planning on comparing the companies in the following table in such a fashion (note: the data presented is from 2008)



In the meantime the recent takeover of centenial coal provides a good quick insight into the potential. Takeover values it at $2.4 billion with current production around 14 mta and JORC compliant resources (30 Jun 09) of 2.4 billion tonnes (see presentation). Factor in the potential for the commodity price to increase over the next 5 years and you start to get a clearer picture of where they may end up.
