The flagship clay hosted ionic rare earth element project on the ASX is IXR. The project is significantly more advanced with a Jorc resource, mettalurgy and other big ticket items ticked off. However, the intital drill hits for the project are very similiar to what KTA has hit here in terms of grade and thickness.
IXR is capped at $250mil with 51% project ownership giving the asset a valuation of roughly $500mil.
The thing with clay hosted rare earths is the processing costs compared to hard rock depisits. Clay deposits are significantly cheaper and easier to process than hard rock making them THE desirable form of rare earths. The majority of the rare earths industry in china uses feed stock from clay hosted rare earths with a grade as low at 100ppm.
Still a lot of work to do here, but it is a very good start for the company.
