It wasn't the IO price that was solely responsible for the SP back then - there was still the question of the actual dividend to be paid so some expectations of a higher dividend was driving the SP rise as well.
Otherwise, the SP would still be higher.
GRR has the advantage if the pellet premium as you have stated. Definitely gives it the edge over other IO producers.
