Court has ordered his immediate release. This is a victory for justice. Not for Pell, not for the victims. But for justice. He should never have been convicted in the way he was based on the eye witness testimony of 1 person. I hope this puts our justice system back on track and that future judgements are made on facts not emotions. There are a LOT of posters on this forum that should hang their heads in shame. There were a lot of unreasonable and personal attacks made on those of us who were interested in seeing justice run it's course. Bloody disgraceful. Justice Weinberg who was the only judge with criminal case experience showed in his dissenting appeal findings what the likely outcome was going to be. Heads should roll over this debacle.

I actually agree with you moondoong. I said all along his conviction was unsafe. Now what for Pell. Civil cases are pending but he could avoid those by returning to the Vatican. He is still a Cardinal and his old job as Treasurer might have been left open.
