the fire at the reactor has been confirmed this morning as being in the turbine building, not the reactor building.

2 reactor facilities were automatically shut down when the quake hit.

the Japanese gov is now saying it ( the one that lost cooling due to power failure and a small fire) is under control but there is a risk of a small leak. 3000+ locals in the immediate area have been evacuated as a precaution.

We all need to remember that no one in the world is better prepared for this type of disaster than Japan, they have more experience, more invested in defending against quakes than anyone else and more training than any other country in what to do when one strikes. with out all of the above mentioned, they would be in a state 10-100 times worse than they are now.

This will affect world markets but to what extent is something i will not speculate on.
