US nuclear power stations can't run at the moment without Russian uranium , it will take years before US can enrich enough of their own. The US would be worried about putting in legislations because there is no other supplier to fill the void if Russia decided to cut them off. It's a bit rich of them to force Europe to pay higher energy prices due to Russian sanctions while they are producing cheap power using Russian uranium. Although it will grab global attention if the US banned it and then Russia cut them off.

Agree, could be difficult and suspect emotions are at play. Plus they want to signal intent to fast track less reliance on Russia. Yes, it is ironic that Trump railed against Merkel with Nord Stream 2 but the US is in the same position with enriched uranium. Not sure Russia would cut them off though, all is not peachy over there.
