I am not at all surprised that the media didn't pick this up. Most people in the media are left of centre. You only have look at their hero worship of Jullian Assange to see this.
It's part of lefty psychology, which is quite messed up, even for those who are educated and appear quite sane. They want freedom to do anything, but at the same time they are psychologically dependent on a nanny government to look after them.
I suggest you read the book titled "The Psychological Causes of Political Madness". It delves heavily into the psychology of the socialist mind. If you do, bear in mind that "liberal" means left of centre to Americans.
Reading this book will explain a lot, particularly the erratic and at times insane behaviour of Labor politicians, particularly when it comes to finance. It also explains why they have so many supporters, and why these supporters are so keen live under the control of a nanny government.
