So I have now lived of the aged pension for about 4 months.
I am only pretending ..... so I worked out it would be about $500 a week?
This will include rent assistance of something like $75 a week?
My rent in my area is for a old 2 bed unit .... about $350
This leaves me $150.
So I put ....
$10 for car reg and insurance... That will not cover it but it will help.
$15 for internet....and phone prepaid
$5 for petrol as I do not drive much
$40 for bills .... elec and gas ....water
Now I have $80 left
I eat veg that is in season and some cheese ... eggs.. nuts but not any meat or treats.
I lie .....my treat is pasta .65 cents for 500g with some grated cheese.
I forgot to mention my meds ..... that is another $20 per week at the pension price so that is good
So that is $60 ......for food ...... now here is where is goes bad.......
If you need a dentist ..... your car breaks down.... fridge or washer dies ..... you have to move!!
This has been a real eye opener for me and will live like this as best as I can and save heaps..... but for
people that have to live like this for what ever reason or crappy circumstance that has left them in this
place ..... my heart goes out to them.
And no watso I am not going to ride a bike around town to save 5 cents as I don't have one.
