I question why do so many pensioners need more than $10,000 a year to live on ?
If every pensioner got just over $10,000 a year tax free I wouldn't have a problem
but to receive $25,000 a year ? That is is a ridiculous crazy amount of money! So they can spend or gamble or give away ??? !!!
Most people would agree, giving that amount of money to job seekers is too much welfare yet 2 couple's on an age pension can retire even more comfortably on $37,000 a year and live a fabulous lifestyle going out while many low income families struggle to even make ends meet paying bills and affording a mortgage or be forced to pay rent and not even able to send their kids to school.
The age pension has created so much inequality with governments giving out frequent $1000-$2000 bonuses each year and generous above inflation indexation twice a year that they have become resentful for not receiving even more largess from the government !
