They found an undamaged passport supposedly belonging to a terrorist within hours - almost 3000 people died that day but they immediately knew this passport belonged to a terrorist. So finding a black box is hardly riveting evidence that a plane had been there
Flight 77 could have gone anywhere - they couldn't pick up any of the planes that were flying off course. One could also ask where MH370 ended up - plenty of ocean to the east of Washington.
I would assume by the OP - that we are trying to establish if a very big and fast 757 collided with a very stationary Pentagon. If this was the case then your two questions answer themselves. If it wasn't the case then they become more relevant and the answers - especially for the second question - would be highly speculative.
