A) present counter technical anaysis ie charting 8 times out of 10 the RSI will shoot up - that usually indicates a pullback if it spikes over 70. Add bollinger and MACD-H
Charts overcome hype because it points out past present and fairly accuratley predicts future trends based on wider market behaviour not emotional hope

B) if someone makes a statement youre quite within youre discussion to ask why ask pointy questions on unsubstanated rumours especially or apparent "knowledge of insdier news" if no response is forthcoming say within 24 hours or youre ignored if its something specific TOU it otherwise put em on ignore

or C) be smart see what it is watch the charts otherwise if youre in set a stop loss strategy or look to invest in another stock
