100% of Aussies are not in favour of blackouts and water shortages. The same sample of people generally prefer cheap and reliable food supplies. To run the desalination project this country is going to have to embark on over the course of the next decade we will need a significant increase in energy generating capacity without the carobon dioxide. Solar is useless because it only generates energy for two out of three meals a day. And god help us if the wind aint blowing when we sit down for dinner at night?

As a farmer who depends on rain for his income and who is seeing weather impact his bottom line, I would prefer nuclear to more coal and gas.
