16. Generally shareholders and potential investors of PEP-11, feel completely duped and
deceived with the loss of transparency in the Australian Government’s actions. How can
the Minister of Resources openly state his enthusiasm for the project only to be
undermined by the Prime Minister with his so called extraordinary ministerial powers.
There is no date in the Governor-General’s diary of this event happening and another
political challenge going on as at 21 August 2022 about this omission.
17. Even though PEP-11 is not for a permanent gas rig or exploration well, a rig would bepresent for the initial exploration perhaps 30-60 days depending on the target depth and
work over after that would be sub-sea with a pipe to the onshore facility. Research shows
that currently we have 23 offshore oil and gas platforms alone in Bass Strait that been
environmentally incident free in their history. Where is there a precedent for an
environmental gas disaster in Australia? Despite research, we cannot find one.
Australian’s have all benefited from Bass Strait in the last 30 years, what is the problem in
approving the petroleum exploration permit for Advent Energy – PEP 11.e
18. Natural gas has been deemed green in 2022 in the European Union in its categorisationof sustainable sources of energy.
19. The Ukraine/Russia war has caused a need for Australia’s gas, to prevent funding of theRussian war machine. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-08-16/uk-to-importrare-
australian-gas-cargo-as-energy-crisis-builds “UK to Import Rare Australian Gas Cargo in
Latest Sign of Desperation”.
20. Australia is the world’s 20th largest consumer of energy and 15th in terms of per capitaenergy use. The reality Australia faces is formulating and accepting a transition plan to
renewables which in reality is a 30–50-year plan with time required to build infrastructure
and supply capacity along with funding the new infrastructure costs.
