21. Australia’s primary energy consumption is dominated by coal (around 40%), oil (34%) and
gas (22%). Coal accounts for 75% of Australia’s electricity generation, followed by gas
(16%), hydro (5%) and wind around (2%). Source: Australian Government GeoScience
website.
22. Traditionally, all natural gas used in New South Wales has been piped in from SouthAustralia and the Bass Strait. However, studies by the Australian Bureau of Agricultural
and Resource Economics (ABARE) and the Australian Petroleum Production and
Exploration Association (APPEA) state that those sources may not be able to meet the
demand for gas in the medium to longer term.
23. BPH Energy has stated that the gas in PEP-11 if discovered will be only sold for the EastCoast of Australia “local” supply.
24. The Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) Netback Price Chart (see link below for chart which wasupdated on 16 August 2022) displays historial and forward LNG netback prices. Insert
quote/data as to how much gas needs to be $/GJ in order for manufacturers to stay
afloat. This level of price is unsustainable and Australian businesses will go under.

26. An energy crisis is real for all Australians whether that be business or otherwise. There isno transitional plan to replace coal. Australian’s, particularly the 19-39 years old
demographic, want a reduction in the usage of coal due to its effects on climate change
with this group much more active than previous generations siting carbon capture
storage, wind, solar, hydro, tidal and battery storage as its priorities.
27. Advent Energy have said that the solution to Australia’s increasing gas shortage is PEP-11.It will help Australia achieve net zero carbon emissions with leading carbon capture
storage technology.
28. In May 2021, Advent Energy announced Professor Peter J Cook, an Australian expert oncarbon capture and storage had joined the team to develop PEP-11 as an advisor on the
geosequestration – in lay terms, the geological storage of carbon dioxide.
