Sodge, I have always maintained that this comment by you, distills the issue and the reason why "The NSW government and Zali Steggell are relentless in their posturing "In my opinion this simply illustrates the reality of PEP-11 being approved. The NSW Government and Zali know full well that PEP-11 has a better than even chance of being approved. In fact, as has been posted herein many, many times, there exists no imprediment to PEP-11 from being approved. If the Federal Government adhere to the process and the law, PEP-11 will be approved.
NOW, this is the grab. NSW and Zali, knowing that approval will be granted, cant, poltically sit back and say "well we must adhere to the process and the law and if this process produces a recommendation of approval, well we must accept this decision"Nope, thats not politics and in particular populist politics in a virtue signalling world.
Zali and Co. and NSW Government have to be seen to be against this, for no other reason is that there are votes in opposing it. Zali and NSW Government are not accountable for the decsion making process. And, as with Labor in opposition, they can make the populist statements without consequences.
It is very simple.
"we did our absolute best to stop PEP-11, but the big, bad labor party does not want to listen to us"As we know, the truth of the matter is that no matter what NSW governmet does to stop PEP-11 its out of their jurisdiction.

The truth of the matter, when it comes to Zali, is that she has not mentioned the alternate wind farm proposal - absolute environmental vandalism.
Moreover, Zali has not mentioned coal and that Newcastle is the largest coal export port in the world.
Maybe Zali should be saying, "we oppose PEP-11 as it will reduce the number of locations coal ships can anchor off our coast. Where do you expect them to anchor - not off Manly, can have this. Stop PEP-11 so the coal ships have somewhere to anchor"
This is pure posturing. Virtue signalling at its most cynical.
WE know Zali has gas connected to her home. Happy for others to burden the res[onsibility of gas production.
Lastly, Zali is out right lying. Its a gas project, one hole. NO seismics nothing excpet one hole. Its not oil - that is a lie.
I would love mainstream media to reveal the importance of PEP-11, the truth and what the alternate is - a massive wind farm.
The we would see community wide support, Zali would shutup and NSW will retract the bill.
