I have exited my EGX position.
Basically my reasoning is that, in effect, my EGX shares are going to be turned into PTD shares. If I had wanted to be a shareholder in PTD then I would have bought PTD shares. To be put into a PTD position "by default" does not make sense to the way that I invest.
Of course it may be that "NEWCO" (PTD+EGX) has better prospects than EGX alone but I have not been able to determine if that is the case. I have taken my money and will live to fight another day.
If, by some chance, the "merger" fails then I will reconsider taking a position back into EGX. Even that, though, would not be a certainty as having proceeded down this path makes EGX a different company (in my eyes).
