Unfortunately, TA is often less reliable on spec stocks, especially ones with no product or service, there is very little to read in FA to form conclusions to be the basis for TA.
    And often inadequate volumes.
Spec stocks like R&D Biotech and Mining, without product, are simply prone to speculation, which is more often than not, stimulated by company announcements, and in particular, price-sensitive ones.
Longer term peaks and troughs and trend lines can be useful, as the trend is always your friend when looked at in a relative time frame perspective.
Expected events are announced and stimulate positive or negative moves, temporarily, till the effect wears off and then the market awaits the actual event, with potential stimulated buying just prior.
It is for these reasons that gaps are open and closed not by TA but simply by the ebb and flow cycle spec stocks without revenue, go through.
Trend lines are good just to show you roughly how the market is perceiving this stock.
Peaks and troughs are usually anchored to a wide market event or a company event or traders scalping.
This is all in my opinion and all in regard to companies without product or service.
I trade in other areas also that have no product or service, and for me the only reliable TA in that situation is trend lines and peaks and troughs, ebbs and flows.
Just my thoughts on the topic.

Companies with products or services is another kettle of fish.
