A lot investors (as distinct from traders) fail to realise that tax loss selling & repositioning is not specifically time sensitive. Realising capital losses & simply buying back into the same stock irrespective of the timing can of itself risk a tax issue. The 30/6 cut off is a bit of a furphy if one follows the various tax rulings. Not saying that it isn’t necessarily driving people’s current buy / sell activity but it maybe ill advised if one is subject to ATO review.
