All this talk about "fireworks starting soon" reminds me of when I was a kid in the 1950's and we were allowed by our government to have fireworks nights.

Great memories Lockitt. I remember bonfire night
......... we had a vacant block opposite our house and all the neighbours would dump their green waste there all year. No green bins in those days! Throwing crackers around at your mates (enemies for the night though!) was the best fun. Next day we had to make sure all the spot fires were out.........more burns from walking around on smouldering embers than copping a cracker the night before........ not many kids wore shoes. Then we would all play kick to kick footy on the road or doogs on the foot path. Very few cars to get in the way.
