Charts don't have to be 100% accurate to be of great benefit.

What I have found is they are about 95% accurate regarding "gaps."

I don't know if anyone here follows de horses.

At one stage I would go regularly and one of my favourite horses was Manikato, a magnificent big chestnut.

Generally horses find it difficult to win first up after a spell.
Manikato came back from, I think it was nine spells, and won first up each time.
I don't think he was beaten first up in his career.

When walking around the betting ring you would see odds of 5/2 and 9/4 in races with small fields.

Bookies would think that he cannot win again first up and would lay him big-time.

Just shows that past record does have to be listened too or at least taken into account.

Would you prefer to back 95% winners and 5% losers or 5% winners and 95% losers?
