If Total are planning on staying and developing, they don't need large numbers. Those extra barrels and profits are years away. So why should they help the sellers? Your cheapest investment is to buy cheap barrels in a discovery instead of exploring.
Also might help in trying to keep costs down when acquiring new leases if you get my drift.
